Those who wish to conduct research in the Archaeological Collections must apply for a research permit. Researchers should submit their applications either personally (at the Aquincum the Museum of the Budapest History Museum), by mail (Aquincum Museum, Záhony utca 4., Budapest 1031, Hungary), or by e-mail to aquincum@aquincum.hu.

Kiscell Museum – Modern Urban History Department
Those who wish to conduct research in the collections of the Modern Urban History Department must apply for a research permit. Researchers need to schedule an appointment and state the purpose of their research in an e-mail sent to kutatoszolgalat@kiscellimuzeum.hu. Researchers need to bring a signed copy of the research application form for the appointment.
Kiscell Museum – Municipal Gallery
If you would like to research in the painting, graphic arts or in the sculpture collection, or in the collection of prints and medals, please send an email to fovarosi_keptar@btm.hu with your research topic and schedule an appointment by email (fovarosi_keptar@btm.hu) or by phone (+36 1 388 7817).
Following that, download the research permit form you can find below. Print it out, fill it in and bring it with you to the appointment. If you are unable to do so, we can provide a form to be filled in on the spot.
Research services are free.
Castle Museum
Research planned in the Archaeological Archive and archaeological collections require prior authorization and must be conducted in accordance with the research regulations. Requests for permission can be submitted in person (Budapest History Museum, Building E, Buda Castle), by post (Budapest History Museum, 1014 Budapest, Szent György Square 2.), or via email at btm@btm.hu.
The staff of the Archives provides research services between 9am and 3pm every weekday. Researchers need to schedule an appointment for their research.
